Dryer Vent Cleaning, Repair, and Installation

Dryer vents are one of the leading causes of house fires in the United States per the National Fire Prevention Association. This is due to the flammable nature of lint. With todays current floor plans dryers are being put further from exterior walls then ever before. This results in long dryer vent runs with multiple offsets.ย  Subsequently resulting in more places for the lint to get snagged and built up throughout the run.

How often should my dryer vent be cleaned?

Dryer vents should be cleaned a minimum of once a year depending on usage. For larger families the dryer vent should be cleaned once every six months. If you are unsure or have an unusually long run it is recommended to have an inspection done. During the inspection it can be determined how much build up has accumulated since the last cleaning. This is by far one of the best practices as all dryer vents and dryers are not the same.

Why does my dryer vent need to be re-ran?

In many cases the builder will run the dryer vent in the easiest way possible, resulting in to much length. Many times there are much more direct paths to get the vent outside of the home. When the dryer vent has a shorter, more direct path you get less build up and quicker dry times.
